This is not a tub of butter. No churned dairy product is commemorated here. Nothing from cow milk is found here.

@lazerwalker@xoxo.zone uhm... s-so... margarine? :kekw:I mean not that there is anything wrong with margarine, I just honestly don't see why you'd try to insist in comparing it to butter... It's just not even in the same league, butter is hard as fuck to spread at room temperature and doesn't really taste any better than margarine.

@cody @lazerwalker Emulsifiers, where the product contains them, are a good reason not to consume.

@JanPV@mastodon.social @lazerwalker@xoxo.zone I mean there are reasons to not consume either. Butter is made of saturated fats, which are terrible for the heart, and margarine can contain trans fats, which are ALSO terrible for the heart, so like you're better off not having any of them.BUUUT if you insist in having them, like I do, I'd just do margarine.

@cody @lazerwalker Not really. I don't think anyone who lives in the countryside and has seen dairy go ultra-intensive in the past decade can think 'ooh, that's a good way to treat animals!'. Nor would they enjoy the way in which land has been turned to dust by the pressures of the market.

@cody No, we're good. You made me think more about the origins of butter. The general public won't consider it an animal product, even though it obviously is.

@JanPV@mastodon.social @lazerwalker@xoxo.zone huh so my theyfriend saw this and said that margarine nowadays usually only has Lecithin as an emulsifier, which is naturally present in eggs and other food, and isn't bad for your health. I'm pretty inept when it comes to healthy food, I usually just eat what tastes nice, I'm literally 8 years old when it comes to tastebuds as well... so yeah... But they're pretty informed, so they probably know what they're talking about :kekw:

@cody @JanPV I was making a dumb joke based on the name of a well-known commercial product, not making a political statement about butter substitutes. Threads like this are why I regret posting on Mastodon.
