For those getting into #HomeLab it does not need to be big, fancy, and/or expensive. Try messing around with older hardware and/or #SBC. Here is my little set up that is small enough to fit on a desk shelf above the kiddo's pc. It's just 3 SBCs, an old mac mini, and a networking switch.

@stfn how is that set up working for you now? Do you have changes or updates you want to do?Eventually I want to self host some of my more loved films and television shows. But that will be down the road.

Thermals were getting too high on the #minecraft box. After a 45 min game session with the kiddo I was hitting temps in the 90c and thermal throttling. Hopefully switching over to a bigger and copper heat sink helps out. Due to clearance issues, I am back down to one fan. Hopefully that doesn’t cause any issues. Oh, and I cleaned the bajesus out of it with canned air 🤪**AI assisted alt text

I’m done for the night. I have successfully installed #MacOS #HighSierra onto the #headless 2011 #macbookpro.I was also able to login to my Mac account as well. I will tinker around with it for a few more days before I switch to #Debian. It’s a shame that Apple gimps their hardware due to software. I really do like their metal unibody designs for their laptops and Mac minis.

I got my #Mac nostalgia feels, now onto #Debian! Since everything is end of life on MacOS 10.14 AND I want to connect it to the internet, I might as well switch to something that is maintained. Plus, I can install #Gnome for more of that Mac feelGnome > Mac Desktop
