The world is made up of people from different backgrounds, who speaks different languages, and have different ways of expressing themselves.        It’s not enough to simply block bigots. I’m tired of folks telling me to just do that, as if that makes the problem go away. Would you close your eyes when you’re under attack, and pretend that the attack has stopped? Telling a #minority to block their online attackers is no different.        Mastodon.nz has blocked me. All the followers I lost were folks on that server. Will anyone give a shit? Nope. Because no one cared when I told them how I was being harassed and chased off.        I blocked artisan.chat some time ago, but I have no idea why they have my entire server "silenced." Contrary to popular bigoted belief, I am NOT part of the admin or moderation for Paktodon. I merely have my account here because they actually care about the safety of Muslims and activists on the Fediverse. To block or silence this server because folks have a problem with my loud mouth is overkill. It's also proof that they have more of a problem with me being #Muslim than being bold.

       It is nothing more than a concerted effort to #silence #MuslimVoices. The #WhiteSupremacist led servers here do NOT like ethnic, cultural, or religious #diversity. If you're not a #WASP, they want you to get the fuck out. It's not enough to not be on their #racist instance, they want us completely off here. Each and every one of them should be #fediblocked.        @futurebird This resonates with me so very much. I was bullied for all sorts of things as a kid/teen. I was called a “tomboy” for not being super feminine. Girls ridiculed me, and boys physically harassed me. I, personally, was never ashamed of who and what I was/still am (a cis-het woman who doesn’t ooze with feminine charm). But dammit, the entire school sure as hell tried their best to humiliate me.

       @futurebird I’m of the opinion that if you’ve lived through the trauma, you should be MORE sympathetic, not less. Being made to “get over it” should teach one how horrible that is. We should NEVER force someone else to suffer the way we did. I’ll never understand this great human need to make others suffer.
