Sitting together with family these days (last week we had an engagement in the family, so I saw some people I don't meet too often) the conversation is regularly: where are they now? Still in Gaza? Rafah? Gaza City? Any house left? Who has made it to Egypt? What will happen to them there? Any chance to get out of there?

Got into a rant yesterday with family bc I cannot understand everyone is still using Meta services, MS, Google etc. Now I am trying to collect alternatives. I saw a good page with EU alternatives, although considering the stand of many EU countries to Palestine I am a bit wary.Still, first question: if someone wants to set up an instance for the #fediverse - in which languages is that possible? Next question: I read that #friendica would be a good alternative to FB. I never used FB, but most of the family have accounts there. For a big extended family spread out over five continents this was a real big thing when it came up and I can understand their reluctance to leave it. So I would love to check friendica in order to be able to talk about it. Do you know a nice server where I could just try out how it works?

A number of countries announce their intention to recognize the state of #Palestine. But somewhere in the smaller print they declare their conditions: they want to have a say in who will be allowed to govern the state (we've had that, whenever a party wins they don't like boycotts start, and I'm not talking about Palestine/Gaza only), and they demand "demilitarisation". That's ridiculous (like in Lebanon). It would give Israel free way to finish with Palestine for good.Timeo danaos ...#Gaza
