       Got into a rant yesterday with family bc I cannot understand everyone is still using Meta services, MS, Google etc. Now I am trying to collect alternatives. I saw a good page with EU alternatives, although considering the stand of many EU countries to Palestine I am a bit wary.Still, first question: if someone wants to set up an instance for the #fediverse - in which languages is that possible? I see English and German - would there be French or best, Arabic available? #Fedihelp #unplugTrump

       @GRA3432 Maybe, they simply want to use these things. Maybe, it's easier or better for them because their friends and family are there, or they need it for work, school, etc.  As for people in general, some of us do it because of accessibility with screen readers or other technology.  Not everyone can simply switch to another service easily, or sometimes, at all.

       Next question: I read that #friendica would be a good alternative to FB. I never used FB, but most of the family have accounts there. For a big extended family spread out over five continents this was a real big thing when it came up and I can understand their reluctance to leave it. So I would love to check friendica in order to be able to talk about it. Do you know a nice server where I could just try out how it works?

       @GRA3432 Try friendica.world.  The administrator is very helpful.  Personally, I prefer Akkoma, due to better accessibility with screen readers.  But if no one in your family uses them, Friendica may be a good alternative.  Also, Fedi Tips, Fedi Follows, and Fedi Garden are all great resources.
