@rolleI just noticed your Mastodon Bird UI on mementomori has a profile picture lightbox when clicked. Very very nice! Masto needs to adopt a theme environment like WordPress. imagine admins being able to upload birdui, have it come with settings....Have you noticed on browser, while in advanced view, the notifications panel with default UI has a toot with no text the UI gives about 2 pixels to click to get to the toot.Does BirdUI resolve this as well?

@rolle this kind of reaction is a mix of intellectual laziness, FOMO, herd behavior and Stockholm Syndrome all lumped together in one orchestrated cacophony to manipulate your time, attention and therefore money.Centralized social media is a #grift. @eliasr I'd like to say it all doesn't have to be everything all at once too. Stepping into FOSS can require learning curves which can be a big scary thing to someone used to having "domesticated tech." Take it all one good chunk at a time, start with "switch to firefox/join a peertube" work up to "degoogle my mobile OS" or " install or join a NextCloud server."Great part about the fedi is its full of folks that can provide input and information along the way.

@eliasr Indeed. I think we are approaching the time where we will soon no longer have the option to uncheck private and spooky things when it comes to operating systems. I hope if more folks push forward into FOSS systems, applications, and platforms that more folks will find easier entry into operating and hosting their own data.

Work burnout struggle is real,I discovered in less than a year I've been pay capped at my job, minimum wage also went up (yay for all) but my wage was not adjusted to stay competitive (boo for me.)Doing Uber deliveries on the side has been floating my budget into the black, but takes quite a bit of hours waiting around to get there.My creative gas has been on E for months, and the only way I'm gonna get the time to recover is to either win a lotto, get a significant sum in server donations, or push harder, find a new full time job, and add doordash alongside Uber in the gig work stack.The only way out is through. 😪
