If you suspend a Sweet Potato in a jar of water and place it in a sunny window, it will produce an abundance of nutritious green leaves to saute like spinach. If you want to, you can detach these slips and plant them in containers or in the ground. Sweet potatoes are different from regular potatoes. They are in the morning glory family, whereas ordinary potatoes are in the nightshade family, whose leaves are toxic.Sweet potato leaves contain all of the vitamins and minerals found in the tuber, minus the high carbohydrates.

@Starlit_Fire I am laughing at the typo, "ethNical" at the same time as I am taking your post seriously. Yes, indeed, eating dogs is pretty much the same as eating pigs if give they were raised under similar circumstances. (Both highly intelligent, omnivorous family pack opportunists). People are familiar with dogs' curiousity and requirements for free ranging plus socialization, less so than the same feqtures existant in wild boar and domesticatedpigs . Did you know that Lewis and Clark, famous American explorers, deemed dogmeat as their favorite flesh food? (They also named Lambsquarter, wild quinoa, their favorite vegetable). Native Americans had not domesticated the kinds of mammals European contacters had, and thus had no "pet" concept to overcome when these animals came into their world. There are many areas local to me where Indian horserustlers ran afoul of Europeans, and died for their efforts to feed big game to their villages.

@Starlit_Fire As a philosophy undergrad, it was made abundantly clear that before embarking on an argument, one must first do "concept clarification ", ie, defining ones terms. Also, before attacking any position, one must do good faith delving into forming a "charitable" exposition of the other's claims

@Starlit_Fire No, I like it, it shines truth into the issue. For example, are militant vegans not being colonialist when confronted with indigenous animal-foundation cultures? For example, the Sami caribou people or the Inuit seal hunting culture? What about African nations and bush meat? And of course, Chinese wet markets? Is it not useful to do an ethnobotanical study before stating universal claims about eschewing animal products in a given ethnicity's food sourcing? After all, GMO monoculture grain based farming tends to be extremely deleterious to the planet and ethnic folkways?

@Starlit_Fire I agree. The sex PAYER feels way better abiut purchasing human bodies once they equate their backbreak8ng work ti be the same as a woman parting her sacred veil for his filthy entrance because he gave her a few of the almighty dollah dollah. Which he did earn from the sweat inequity his colonial oppressors extracted from him....

@Starlit_Fire I completely agree and understand vegetarian lifestyle. I have lifecycle questions I want to hash out openly with vegan ideologists. I welcome a warm, accepting, though provoking forum. My basic assumption is pagan/pantheistic. Imo Gaeia is comprised of a weblike system of plants, animals, and microbes which shape our organic reality. I value your point of view and all additions to the conversation. May all beings dwell in love kindness peace and joy

@frogsdottir Thanks for sharpening my question with regards to "truth", that is very important. I also appreciate your link because it does reinforce my guess that masks are helpful in thwarting some dangerous exhalations. Although today another Spinster posted a link about how dentists don't suffer greater disease because of all the aerosol pathogens they face--ever, throughout history. I welcome tonnes of points of view to pipe in on this topic.

@Fullycaffeinated @ouchmyeyes I have read lists of how to tap, when, where, why, and which species to tap for syrup sap. It turns out that Palm varieties are the most plentiful!Trees are so generous. If humans are mindful and empathetic regarding a stand of capable trees, why not? It's equal to harvesting their fruit, nuts, and foliage, isn't it?

@frogsdottir two paragraphs leapt out at me:""In normal times we'd say that if it wasn't shown statistically significant or the effective in real-world studies, we don't recommend it," he said. "But in the middle of a pandemic, we're desperate. The thinking is that even if it cuts down transmission a little bit, it's worth trying."And...

Talk to me about menopause. I am 50, my period continues to be annoyingly heavy and regular. I feel pretty much the same as always...but these chin whiskers are seriously irritating.
