It is just as ethnical to eat a dog as it is to eat a pig. There are a lot of people who hate the idea of eating dogs and condemn those who do and then turn around and happily eat pigs.

@Starlit_Fire I am laughing at the typo, "ethNical" at the same time as I am taking your post seriously. Yes, indeed, eating dogs is pretty much the same as eating pigs if give they were raised under similar circumstances. (Both highly intelligent, omnivorous family pack opportunists). People are familiar with dogs' curiousity and requirements for free ranging plus socialization, less so than the same feqtures existant in wild boar and domesticatedpigs . Did you know that Lewis and Clark, famous American explorers, deemed dogmeat as their favorite flesh food? (They also named Lambsquarter, wild quinoa, their favorite vegetable). Native Americans had not domesticated the kinds of mammals European contacters had, and thus had no "pet" concept to overcome when these animals came into their world. There are many areas local to me where Indian horserustlers ran afoul of Europeans, and died for their efforts to feed big game to their villages.

@Starlit_Fire No, I like it, it shines truth into the issue. For example, are militant vegans not being colonialist when confronted with indigenous animal-foundation cultures? For example, the Sami caribou people or the Inuit seal hunting culture? What about African nations and bush meat? And of course, Chinese wet markets? Is it not useful to do an ethnobotanical study before stating universal claims about eschewing animal products in a given ethnicity's food sourcing? After all, GMO monoculture grain based farming tends to be extremely deleterious to the planet and ethnic folkways?

@CravenPunning I would like everyone to be vegan one day since non human animals want to live just like the rest of us.Right now it is difficult to for everyone to be vegan. Most people can make steps to cut back on animal products though. In most cultures of the past, women as chattel was viewed as important so clearly not traditions are worth holding onto. There are many vegans who are not white and do not have major colonial ancestry so I do not see militant vegans as colonial.

@CravenPunning My arguments are bare bones but I basically want a society that is vegan one day. I understand that it could not really happen right now.

@Starlit_Fire I completely agree and understand vegetarian lifestyle. I have lifecycle questions I want to hash out openly with vegan ideologists. I welcome a warm, accepting, though provoking forum. My basic assumption is pagan/pantheistic. Imo Gaeia is comprised of a weblike system of plants, animals, and microbes which shape our organic reality. I value your point of view and all additions to the conversation. May all beings dwell in love kindness peace and joy
