@john I’ve been having thoughts in that direction myself, but haven’t solidified exactly what I want from it. Publish to Fediverse and integration of comments etc back into the post.

@john Rails, but that’s inertia as much as anything else. Though the new Hotwire stuff is fun to use with it. Django seems to be closest Python equivalent.

@john ruby/rails because you could steal mastodon code directly.

@EU_Commission Does it include getting rid of fake retail markets, which can only make things less efficient and more expensive?

@john flying is massively subsided? Train ticketing isn’t optimised for long distance travel? Might actually be priced to discourage it?

@john “surely” is doing a lot of work there. An awful lot of work.

@anders https://github.com/lynchjames/note-refactor-obsidian covers most of those bases?

@anders assuming you aren’t syncing through iCloud or something. It won’t affect vault on other devices if you’re using obsidian sync.

@anders @dh I tend to think that expecting one tool to be good at everything is unrealistic.

"My feed here is so quiet! Mastodon isn't any fun". <checks profile> Follows nobody. My feed took off at about 500+ follows. I probably need to trim it a bit now.

@anders @ianlhayes @bowreality @ellane @fenndev I've gone the same way with daily notes: they're a mess of plugin code, but they're mostly ephemeral anyway. I tend to evaluate the risk of plugins in the third category by benefit and how easy they would be to replicate/replace. Obsidian Leaflet or Dice Roller adds a lot of value for RPG use, and wouldn't be too hard to transform into another form for me - I've been doing batch processing of text files for a very long time.

@lextenebris is modern ttrpg discourse entirely reruns of forty year old discussions?

@lextenebris @utterfiction I think the paths to monetisation have a lot to do with that. Americans seem to expect/be expected to make anything they spend some time on into a job and you don’t make money saying “oh yeah, Bob on Usenet solved that thirty five years ago, here yah go.”

@ChrisMayLA6 @yogthos my question is why the state representing 1/3 of world population shouldn’t have power. Is it really worse than the US?

@futurebird to be precise, young people are telling people doing surveys that they have less sex. How that’s connected to how much sex they’re having and how it was connected in the past may not be the same.

@futurebird I’ll buy “most people perform straight”. The data doesn’t support “are straight”. Also, I suspect most exclusive homosexuals are also performing a binary sexual identity and a lot of the bi-hate from that end is about their discomfort with that. We’re conditioned to get in well defined bins. Ambiguity is weakness.(I’m boringly heterosexual so far.)

@futurebird nope. Cluster by subject/author, then by size. That way you know roughly which room/bookshelf to start your search.Gardening is on the bottom half of one of two bookcases in the front room, while photography is in the top half. Martial arts is mostly on the narrow one beside that. Italian cooking is mostly on the second one on the outside of the kitchen island. Dance technique in the top of the larger one in the bedroom. Pets/animals and graphic novels in the hallway bookshelf.

@futurebird if they're deep enough they also provide space in front of the books for lego models, semi-ornamental tea pots, martial art weapons, skulls and so on. With suitable lighting on the shelves they also become beacons of warmth and knowledge. 🙂

@futurebird "sinking" isn't the right word. "Penetrating" possibly: you're a projectile shooting into the asteroid, disrupting it.
