What's the deal with the @ScottishGreens aversion to district heating? @lesleyriddoch has been speaking about it as being normal across Europe, for years. I keep waiting for it to be discussed as an option here, but we just get middle class solutions that aren't doable by most people, being touted. How does a ground source heat pump work if you live in a tenement or if you can't afford to insulate your stone built cottage? I'd like to use the excess heat from industry more, but how?

@drgeraint @kim_harding @Roadwarrior29 @ScottishGreens Leadership would be nice. Leaving anything to Local authorities produces really variable results. Eg Borders Council's 20mph rule for all towns vs Aberdeenshire Councils absolute rejection of imposing any kind of additional restriction on motorists.

I'm heading off for a couple of days cycling in the Borders. Going to head Southwards from Edinburgh towards Kelso, with no planned route in mind. Any advice from folk who cycle in that area? Great roads not to be missed or the road from Hell to avoid. #cycling #cycletouring #cyclingscotland

I joined a gym at the weekend and went along for the first time tonight. I've not been in a gym for 20 odd years. They're still weird. No one said hello. There were lots of large ladies and small men at one end and lots of huge men and no ladies at the other end. There seem to be unwritten rules. I've signed up for a challenge event in April, so need to stay fit enough over winter. Not sure the gym is going to be part of the plan.

@simon_brooke it's a bit like going to a different country where customs are different from those you're comfortable with. If I persevere, I will have to find my place in this new society. Do I fit with the large ladies or with the enormous men. There is also a spin studio if I fancy cycling in the dark to loud music and being shouted at.

@wauz @bmacDonald94 they're unclassified roads where I am. There are loads of them and you rarely meet a car. I'm very lucky to live where I do.

@wauz @bmacDonald94 Oh no. That doesn't sound good. On the positive side, there is absolutely no possibility of any road upgrades happening anywhere near me. The unclassified roads are in better condition than half the main roads. 🤣

@drgeraint it was a good idea, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. It says it's still set up to share with strava, but it just isn't.
