Halloween in Manhattan: lots of people (male, female, girls boys) dressed up in ghoulish costumes. A feminine-looking man dressed as a woman, clearly trying to pass, but still recognisably male, with a fancy dress headband (a deer's antlers) but the rest like a standard female outfit - skirt, leggings, a light touch of makeup.But ... Since WHEN Is dressing AS A WOMAN a Halloween costume? Why is dressing as an ORDINARY WOAN enough for a male to be a "Halloween" costume? This makes me so so so angry. There was no violence because she was unconscious. Women should just boycott Spain completely. All the women there should go on strike. Or leave - just for a week. See how the men would survive. @RadFemFatale

I had a run in on Twitter with Ms Pluckrose once about the sex pay gap. She maintains there is no sex pay gap & no problem for women! I can cope with differing opinions & debate, but she was rude & abusive. When I pushed back she simply blocked me. Not a good look for someone who calls herself an intellectual. But she can't get a job in a UK university so I think she resents anyone who can. @Lemondrizzle

Has there been a thread about the responses to #AmyCampbell? I've watched the clip, and I was literally open-mouthed & aghast at her deployment of vile #racism.BUT - since then, there's been a gush of equally vile stuff about white women & racism, as if white women are responsible for the hierarchical system of #sexism & #racism which has propagated the myth of the black man as a threat to white women. (I've taught the silent film "Birth of a Nation" where this myth is most disturbingly performed). But this is a male myth - a myth of masculinity. It subjects women as well as black men. How does one argue that without excusing Amy Campbell? How does one call out the vile sexism of those calling out vile racism? Or as a white woman, do I recognise that now is not the time to say this?I hope Spinster is a safe space in which to discuss this - I'm really interested in a mix of views.

Well, the behaviour of Amy Cooper was unforgiveable - she WAS weaponising racism. It was awful. So yes, women are capable of evil. But women aren't organising and benefitting from a systematic structure of oppression, such as patriarchy or racism. @Wildebeest @HellaDea
