@interfluidity I totally agree, although our perfect PR multiparty system in the Netherlands faces the same problem.The reason is a media entirely serving outrage-bait, especially right-populist style, and rarely complimenting politicians for their achievements, unless they’re campaigning/lying for them.Without good information you can’t reward politicians for policy achievements either. Good stuff still happens where the media doesn’t pay attention, either at national or EU level.

@jmaris @wolf480plI’ve seen this one for Pope Francis and AOC as individuals, and the transitions to electric vehicles and renewable energies as abstract processes!I think it’s a big society-wide political problem (not just Mastodon) that we can’t compliment/help political actors for the good things they do and criticise/punish for the bad things.Media culture, and perhaps reducing politics to elections, tempts folks to exclusively punish.
