@init_6_ I still call Kali that half the time.

@BarrenPlanet @init_6_ It's Arch, so just as big a hassle as Kali. I usually go with Pentoo if I need something more persistent than a one-off liveboot/VM.

@BarrenPlanet @init_6_ Mostly I just can't wrap my brain around potteringware and thus consign it to the same "eventually it just breaks" place that windows goes. Perfectly fine for a single-use ball of knives but not maintainable.

@nyrath @cbehopkins @paul @stux I always liked the handwave that the artificial gravity is part of the inertial dampening which is independently powered with reserve power because without it you turn the people into goo. Also why ST ships shake the insides on weapon strikes. The dampeners can't predict weapon impulses.

@paul @cbehopkins @stux @nyrath There's a whole lot of fail between "power input lost", "open-loop mode, no sudden manuvers please", and "chunky salsa".

@adam I did it with shorewall and a cronjob to keep the dns-IP mappings up to date.

@niconiconi What's the error bars on voltage? Do they give some feedforward signal to let the PMIC know to get ramping?

@abbiistabbii The furries of course. Midday summer parades are lethal in a fursuit.

@adam I'm hoping more for electrolytic processes to help here. Aluminum is basically frozen electricity, but can't do much load demand because it needs to be done fast to deal with the high-temp conditions. Lower temp electrolytic processing could do some chemical processes more efficiently (instead of current thermal methods) and, because they're literally charging a battery, can ramp load very quickly and help regulate.

@adam We'll see about that cannot be disabled dreck. I went on a bit of a ghidra trip through the RIL after some twit used those for campaign messages.

@tschaefer I'd vote for DNS servers accessible to the wider internet SHALL be accessible over IPv6.

@whitequark Honestly having a hard time coming up with a tool that is not used to make weapons (and is not just a weapon itself).

@futurebird That is what being a winter person is. Having a healthy respect for the cold, and being very prepared for it.

@futurebird @smh I was on TI graphing calculators through MS, HS and undergrad, then back to HP. My dad had a HP-41, and now I've got a HP-41 (my grandfather's), a 48GX, and a DM-42. Nice buttons you can use without looking is a big thing going for them. In my experience, the RPN stuff is nice for doing calculations live, and being able to insert parts of it while you're thinking of it.The programmability of the HPs is amazing as well.

@futurebird @smh Uffda, not me. Probably some kid soon though. While technically the HP-41 can graph, I don't have the printer or HP-IL/HP-IB adapter things to make that work.
