@aral hate to defend macs, but it’s probably a good thing they can’t be disabled via the main operating system or malware would just do that

@jonah Good point. But, seriously, on *every screen*? And I mean it’s meaningless so I actually had to look up what it was. If you’re going to have an indicator, make sure it’s clear what it does. The camera indicator is green in the menu bar and that does the job well. Why an additional green dot? A *green* dot: the colour of OK, go, everything is good…Aaaannywaaay…(The reason I need to turn it off is because I’m capturing the screen and it’s ruining my green screen.)

@aral on *internal* Mac (and iPhone/iPad) displays, the green/orange dot is actually baked into the LCD hardware to always have the pixels lit up when the camera/mic is activated, so they can't really make the indicator too complex.But yeah, I'm still with you 😆
