It's crazy to think that most of the planes in the sky are based on designs from the 1970s or earlier. The 737 was designed in 1968 and has barely changed since.

The general airframe. Obviously the engines, various avionics and the supporting sensors changed drastically, but other than the wingtips added for lower drag, the plane's shape has stayed essentially the same.
