#GNOME #Wayland is definitely a much worse experience than on Xorg. Window placement is entirely broken. #Steam games have varied worse experiences. Title bars for apps that aren't GNOME Wayland apps are horrible. Not a terribly different feeling from logging into that web site you've been using daily for years, and suddenly it is completely different and nothing is where you expect it to be.

Don't get me wrong here. This isn't a shitpost about #Wayland. This is about the fundamental behavior of a shell changing simply by the fact of it changing the method of rendering to the hardware. #KDE #Plasma has many of these same issues on Wayland. It just seems to me that there has been more focus on using Wayland, than delivering the same experience that was provided on Xorg.

@dohbuheee I for one salute the pioneers that are testing out Wayland right now. Reporting the bugs and developing fixes for the problems they encounter and building a community. This way when I start using it in 10 years or so I am sure it will be great.

@sysedit That would have made sense 10 years ago, before it was being forced onto users.

@dohbuheee AwesomeWM the window manager I am using won't have Wayland support even in 50 years. I'll switch to Hyprland but only after the reports in the vain of "very basic thing that everyone takes for granted does not work in Wayland" stop coming in.

libinput today still works poorly, the single issue made me not want to use wayland.I doubt libinput will improve anything within 50 years, since those developers always blame others for their own fault.@sysedit @dohbuheee
