@publicvoit 😂 I am reading the part about URLs in Markdown and yes, I have to look up links in Markdown every time. Anything would be better than what they went with.

@publicvoit I really like the term "Zoo of Markdown flavours" that you are using.

@publicvoit So Org-Mode can export to Texinfo and Man page format. So would your suggestion be to write Man pages and Texinfo in Orgdown? The single most distressing thing about it for me would be that in my repository I'd have both the org and texi file. So I'd have to manually export to that texi file and if I or somebody else make mistakes then these files will be out of sync. And one change would always trigger two changed files which is just a bit weird.

@publicvoit Thank you for writing in this detail about your thoughts. You are bringing up some points about Markdown that hurt me while using it but I never knew exactly what specificely it was.

@publicvoit One thing I noticed, the article is long enough that it would be worth for some people to download it as an Epub (I read longer articles on an e-reader). Not sure if that information is usefull to you, just thought I mention it.

@publicvoit Your markdown critique showed me that it is ok and constructive to look for problems even in popular tools. We'd all be worse off if we spent our time just parroting the popular opinion to each other for a pat on the back.

@fsf I've tried to fix a teeny tiny typo in the gnutls info page and it is impossible because GNU dot org and Savannah have regular down time and Savannah didn't send out the confirmation mail even though my mail server is standards conform.

@fsf Not sure what it founds as services and webpages by the FSF are constantly down over the last month and contributing to projects was not possible.

When you read documentation inside emacs, what is your prefered format? For me it is in this order:info, man, epub (nov.el), devdocs. Are there any texinfo pages you don't read in info format because you need images? I think info pages don't contain images even when the source texinfo file has them (happy to be proved wrong).Right now I am also trying to solve searching through my epub files for information. Best I've found so far was bookmarks+ and maybe citar.#emacs #documentation

@publicvoit Leute hier sind oft tief deprimiert was in der Welt läuft. Aber ich finde die EU macht immer wieder Dinge richtig gut. Wenn man das Positive nicht ausblendet Leben wir in einer sehr guten Welt.

@publicvoit In your blog you make a point that quality content might get lost on certain platforms and when I clicked the video for the video on the website of the CCC it is now a 404.I'll watch it on youtube but it is funny that this proves that point so well. This is the article if anyone else wants to read it:Don't Contribute Anything Relevant in Web Forums Like Reddithttps://karl-voit.at/2020/10/23/avoid-web-forums/

@dohbuheee I for one salute the pioneers that are testing out Wayland right now. Reporting the bugs and developing fixes for the problems they encounter and building a community. This way when I start using it in 10 years or so I am sure it will be great.

@dohbuheee AwesomeWM the window manager I am using won't have Wayland support even in 50 years. I'll switch to Hyprland but only after the reports in the vain of "very basic thing that everyone takes for granted does not work in Wayland" stop coming in.

@holl I start Emacs daemon at system start with Systemd. When X starts I autostart Emacs with emacsclient -c. This makes it seem like the startup is instantly.

@tusharhero @holl I used to run it like this and now I prefer to run it differently. The matter is a subjective choice.

@tusharhero The original case I've made for running it as a service was: "This makes it seem like the startup is instantly."Because Emacs daemon was started early, even before X was up it is ready for me the second X starts up. I only have to have emacsclient -c in my autostart.I no longer have to optimize my init.el for speed as Emacs is always up before X even starts the client.

@publicvoit Gutes Argument dafür statische Webseiten zu haben und einen Mirror für die liebsten Seiten auf dem eigenen Server zu hosten.
