I think the whole fedi could learn something by thinking about the experience of the #forkiverse. I need to go into these details eventually but they touch on all the culture stuff we've been struggling with forever.#SocialWebhttps://pca.st/episode/474afe5a-239b-44c1-a5d4-17b4cdbf95ea?t=2895

@wjmaggos i got the full the #forkiverse experience and can tell you it's been amazing. As most, at least in the very first days, I thought this is what all of fedi is like. If we can, we will continue to partake in any positive development 🙌

@wjmaggos There are many sides to this experience. It probably doesn't make much sense for me to ask what exactly you mean, because you'll probably be writing a blog post about it soon.To me, it seemed at times as if the Forkiverse had a degree of internal connection, perhaps even community, that could also be an approach to solving many problems in the Fediverse. But it's also something else whether a community already exists or whether there is a connection between people of a purely technical nature who don't really have anything in common in terms of their attitudes, beliefs, and concerns, which is roughly what I could see in the Fediverse. When Mastodon was relaunched, the protagonists came up with a strong vision of a community, but unfortunately they applied it to Mastodon, which meant that a lot of good things were lost.

@zotheca I think it's a mistake to focus on "community" with the fediverse, but it's very nice to bring your community to the fedi. Like everyone who listens to a certain podcast being on a server etc.I want everyone on the fedi. That requires a very open norm re interaction. Basically just no abuse. But communities are limited and should have any rules they want. More suited for group tech with more privacy. We're still struggling with balancing social media and social networking imo.
