       Interesting article. I guess the problem is about trying to fix the symptoms instead of the actual problem. A big issue is that the algorithms in use by Big Tech social media companies tends to favor content like this. If not, we would all just stop following people that share stuff like this.        @jon algos push tabloid culture. stuff that has always appealed to our lizard brains but never had wide reach cause we'd never pay for it or want others to know we paid any attention to it. empty calories for our brain. but the algo knows and spreads it around. if everything had to be chosen to be shared by humans via decentralized social media, our communal public brain space would be full of much higher quality stuff.
