@caekislove @nomebullyyou It will be extremely good that housing prices collapse, and they will collapse Detroit and Japan community's where the schools close from lack of children is rapidly followed by houses going to 1$ and a bunch of really sad old people. The unmaintained sewers and roads to otherwise reasonable houses will be much worse.

Pretty sure you can still get houses in mostly abandoned Detroit neighborhoods just by paying the outstanding local property taxes (sometimes just 100s of dollars). Question is, why would you? With no police/fire protection, it's a bit like being a settler and choosing to build your homestead right next to an Indian camp. Will they raid you today? Maybe, maybe not. Will they raid you eventually? Oh hell yeah.

There wouldn't be a police force and "justice" system waiting to destroy you when the indians raid you and you have to kill them. If you could resettle Detroit without interference, the problems with Detroit could be solved in a decade.

How many more years do the boomers have? When india gets around to doing its census properly, will they not also have doctors doing fraud like china? Mexico will have started aging.America is among best off demographics in the world, these economic unintergrated immigrants will see their own countries they left to rot have sad old people and 1$ houses being begged by thier parents to return, if they airnt pushed out as well; which in turn will drastically increase our supply, while zoomers are a smaller generation.If we are lucky, we may have a vitalistic and anti-landlord decade; maybe, but teddy roosevelt "national parks" was actually about controlling land speculation, and we do have reasonable forests now instead of a wasteland; so its happened before. Hopefully meaning we make good, high quality housing that can last centuries with a plan that people should be at least able to have children.
