Apparently made in abyss is getting another movie this year and is already slated for another one after that?I caught up with the manga not too long ago, but it really doesn't feel like there's been enough plot development to justify a theatrical adaptation. At least nothing akin to the dawn of the deep soul arc.I get that they're supposedly switching release formats now that the adaptation has caught up to the manga, but unless they're covering material that hasn't released yet, I feel like the new movies are gonna be a bit light on content.

@weeble Well yeah, but the manga's been like really scant on content. Aside from some new characters getting introduced, all that's happened is the main party's taken a bath and got maimed again.

@weeble I'm still really invested, and the smaller side plots are still good but yeah main story progress has noticeably slowed down after the fifth layer. Every volume it feels like a major happening is right around the corner but it always just kind of keeps building up to it.It's still good, but the seventh layer was hyped up a lot from the beginning and we still don't have a lot of answers.

@Kagekokoro @weeble Yeah, I don't think that's unheard of in the industry, but at the pace the manga's been going, I'm not too confident that's the case. (Or maybe it is and the author's just been killing time, idk)

@weeble I don't mind hail hex getting some time dedicated to them. They all seem interesting and at least they're also keen on progressing further into the abyss. The journey is part of the fun, just so long as that journey isn't holing up in one place for several volumes again.
