Being and becoming is quite a quaint MetroidvaniaSetting is nice, the acuatic theme speaks to me personally, the OST is good so far, very ambiental and relaxingYou play as some kind of spiritual kind of diver, belonging to some religion, to whom tragedy has befallen with which you have to wrestle and overcome.The weapons are somewhat water-themed as well, with the heavy attack being an anchor, very satisfying to land to be honest.Im unsure as to the backstory thoughThe whole theme seems coherent and the lore is written in a way that I personally enjoy, but it could come off as pedantic and overinflated to some.I have yet to see if there is true content behind it or if they wrote it like that just for the fun of it.I would like for it to have some deep topics to explore,40 minutes in and its good so far.The wall jumping bugs me a bit since it requires a certain timing that I am not accustomed to, Hollow knight seems to be much more responsive in this aspect.Since I am drawing a comparison:I personally like being able to attack in many directions, a mechanic this game lacks, though I dont find it to be a dealbreaker.A mechanic that is, as far as I can tell, directly ripped from HK is the ability to gain ressources from attacking enemies and being able to use said resource to heal oneself. Dont mind it much since I find that mechanic to be rewarding in its own way.One issue that I have is the lack of stakes when dying. You dont lose currency or experience, you just have to get back to where you were.I wouldnt mind being punished for dying, but I guess many normoids wouldnt like that so they didnt include it.All in all a solid demo so far, would recommend.
