Another day, another social platform embracing the #Atmosphere (it is currently in Beta). It is called Gander Social, & it is hosted in #Canada 🇨🇦: https://gandersocial.ca/Unlike #WSocial, Gander Social will use the standard Atmosphere protocol, which means they will be able to easily interact with #Bluesky users. They plan on launching sometime this year. I am curious as to why they chose Atmosphere over the #Fediverse.Discovered via @grrlscientist (on their #CounterSocial account).

@darnell as someone still new to the Fediverse, I think it's because the fediverse is quite confusing. I'm learning as best I can here, but I see why folks could be turned off from trying out the Fediverse. There has yet to be widespread adoption, and most people are still tied in some way(fam/work/school) to the Big tech platforms. I like Mastodon and I am trying out the other Fediverse variants as well, but there is indeed a learning curve. I've hear of CounterSocial before too

@CathyBikesBook @darnell I get that but I think most of the confusion and other complaints are due to there being lots of options and different configurations. The ATmosphere will have the same issues if/when there are lots of different implementations of the ATproto.

@wjmaggos yeah the multitude of options is what I have been confused by. I think it'd be better if there were more non-technical explanations and guides for all of it. */@FediTips does a great job at explaining things though
