At what point is an American angry with someone or even in violent conflict with them (even if that person they are in conflict with is part of the government and authorized to use force) not allowed to possess or brandish a gun?The libertarian justification for the 2A has always made a lot less sense when you try to work out the details on the ground.#ICE #Minnesota #Minneapolis

@wjmaggos The quick and easy answer is "Life and Limb in peril."But one must keep in mind that words are now just as powerful as sticks and stones and will break bones (somehow). Individuals have been beaten down by a /*perceived*/ violence that they now feel that they are justified in protecting "Life and Limb."A jury of your peers will help you figure out if you've taken it too far or not. It is not for the arresting authorities to decide; they are only to detain for civil examination.

@billybon3s my view is that making this call can often be very difficult and I completely agree that it then falls upon a jury. these things happen etc.but the presence of guns on both sides amps up the danger in these situations. maybe some people are fine with more such situations being so elevated in danger because they think more people being constantly armed would have other benefits. but that's the trade-off that I feel rarely gets brought up.

@wjmaggos with the laws of probability, more guns does increase chances. So will more big sticks, or stones, or cinder blocks, or knives.Fists increase your chances of getting hit back, but no ones dies. But there's a respect for the tool. Our collected "respect" for anything in today's society is much more broad in spectrum. More in certain scenarios, less in others. The right to protect one's self, however, will always walk the line in this society until the 2A is removed.
