When I read old poetry, I sometimes wonder if people of XIX century (and older) really were built differently.Mainly in the "I don't really care if I live or die" way.I personally really can't envision myself taking a walk to the city gates to like, shoot at a dude until one of us dies, simply because the dude tried to slag me.

I think its a lot of peer group pressure. Like you will be ostracised from the upper class if you sleep with someone's wife and then don't show up for the duel when caught.

Honestly it's not even the "A night with Cleopatra but afterwards I get beheaded? Would" thing that confuses me.It's the dude that goes "Is life really such a treasure that it's not worth to give for a night of love?"I dunno. As I said, built different.
