       I wonder when the average(!) person will be ready for discussions on free alternatives for popular services like #YouTube, #WhatsApp, #GMail, #Microsoft, #Apple, #Amazon, ...For example, my #privacy-aware workflows with YouTube stopped working because of intervention by #Google. 😔 I'd like to be able to ignore youtube URLs in near future and still get access to cool videos, e.g., via #PeerTube copies.#diday #enshittification #digitalIndependence #digitalSouvereignity #Fediverse

       @publicvoit For the average person, all these platforms are "free" and do not need an alternative. They do not necessarily care about privacy or digital sovereignty.I guess their main concern is whether there are enough people and accounts to follow. It is the masses that make the platforms interesting. And for content creators, YouTube, Instagram and co. are interesting because of the monetisation of their content.
