KDE removed FreeBSD support from Plasma login manager stating that KDE/Plasma relies systemd(1)/logind(1) Linux daemons.FreeBSD should not waste time to work on adding KDE/Plasma desktop install button in bsdinstall(8) installer.Use MATE/XFCE instead.https://github.com/KDE/plasma-login-manager/commit/e78f33aefd6512b542af21c3542516f38cbf678d

@vermaden I think Gnome/KDE are starting to become relics of the past. XFCE/MATE is the way of the future.

@vermaden I remember using gnome2 and kde3 in the early 2000s. That era was the peak of desktops, the golden age. Wtf happened in the last 25 years? Why do I rather customize dwm in 2026 than using those convoluted bloated desktops with their weird notions of "usability" and UI design? And this move will affect the non-systemd distros as well.

@vermaden I never understood why they followed this idea in the first place. KDE with its tight systemd integration, Wayland-only and "move fast and wreak havoc" approach will always be a moving target.XFCE, on the other hand, is always stable and predictable.
