@futurebird I seem to recall hearing a few years ago -- not sure if this still valid -- that a cracked, busted-up looking phone was in fact considered cool among the teenage set. It still had to be a newer phone, though; not just an old, janky one.

@futurebird @Nickiquote From what I see on the London Underground this is a major trend. Either that or people are too lazy and cheap to get the screen on “THEIR FAVOURITE AND MOST USED THING IN THEIR WORLD” fixed. 🤷♂️

@futurebird Wasn't the original use of those fake cracked phone cases to discourage thieves?

@futurebird My Fairphone (Dutch made) is military green and has camouflage. It can be used by soldiers. That is my answer to Apple.

@futurebird My smartphones never get cracked screens because I always put them in protective cases with a lot of rubber around the edges and a magnetically closed lid. However, they always die after 4-6 years, usually a chip burns out or something like that, and repairing them would be more expensive than just replacing them.

@futurebird I'm still on the stonewashed look, haven't managed to achieve the ripped style yet. I've been trying very hard for 6 years though!
