I've officially (with help from @gewt, natch) wired up my bedroom with MoCA networking!through the power of coffee, I have ethernet again, it's just ethernet that's running over coax like it's 1982 again

@foone @gewt Wait, isn't that how cable internet always works?

@Canageek @gewt kinda? this isn't cable internet into the house, it's point to point to get ethernet from the network room to a bedroom without drilling new holes. and protocol-wise it's nothing like DOCSIS used by cable internet.

@foone @Canageek @gewt MoCA is so expensive and kinda a hack, I wish there are some open hardware out there that can do the same.

@foone @gewt Thank you! Is the speed good then, since cable to house is pretty fast, or are there horrific drawbacks?

@Canageek @gewt the devices we got are 2.5gbit, so it's plenty fast for us

@foone now I want to make a MOCA adaptor that uses vampire taps instead of barrel jacks.
