The MagpieA bird’s noise is enough to bring back memories of months spent half-trapped because of a magpie.https://my-notes.dragas.net/2026/01/18/the-magpie/#MyNotes #Memories #Blogging #Birds #Life #RealLife

@stefano (with styled text in the post. Interesting. Is it a standard mastodon that you are using for this particular instance ?) (oh, no that’s a snac I guess)

No, that's #snac - and I love the possibility to post in Markdown.Unfortunately, official Mastodon doesn't support it (yet) and I'd avoid using some forks (like glitch), at least for now.

@stefano > two elderly neighbors were circling the car, trying to open it. They wanted to free her. A criminal offense, but they didn't care. In their eyes, we were evil creatures for wanting "the capture" of that poor, defenseless animal.I never expected to saw the connection between Italian eldery persons and our Russian babushka-s (old women). :drgn_blush_giggle: Usually, when pack of homeless dogs attacks a hoomans at the city outskirts — there was always someone who will do anything to hide these dogs from any services and authorities, thinking that this is an "ecological action and protection of these poor animals from evil service workers" :drgn_bottom:

@evgandr@bsd.cafe @stefano@fedihome.stefanomarinelli.itPeople get weird sort of attachment to feral animals — an elderly woman on my block was feeding stay cats living in the basement, and many others were keeping an eye on these cats. One day came a woman who was some sort of volunteer helping stray cats find a new home — she wanted to take our cats to the vet and then put them up for adoption, she has even shown us photos of one of the younger cats she managed to catch earlier — it looked like the cat is in good hands, so when she returned for the others we knew that she meant no harm. But this elderly lady trusted no one and she started chasing the volunteer around, swearing loudly, trying to stop her from catching the cats — that was a very weird "performance", but eventually she's given up and all cats went to animal shelter.
