Would you support RFK Jr mandating Coca-Cola to remove high-fructose corn syrup just like they do in Europe?

@Dan_Ramos Yes, and I wouldn't stop there. The only reason high fructose corn syrup is cheaper than sugar in America is because of corn subsidies. That also needs to stop. Then we'd finally be free of all of that ethanol in our gas.

Yes... but people should just stop buying it if it has corn syrup. I also agree with the other comment about ending corn subsidies.

@Dan_Ramos I support anything that will hurt the Coca-Cola corporation after being subjected to that horrific AI holiday ad ~1000 times last month.

@Dan_Ramos I would only support a temporary restriction for a few years so that people have a chance to wise up and during that time, reduce the subsidies on corn year by year until they are completely gone. Then go back to free markets.

@justinerickson @Dan_Ramos it wasn't long ago where they tried to get legislation passed to call high fructose corn syrup "corn sugar"Thankfully that didn't get passed, but that mentality is so evil.

@Dan_RamosNo mandates. But no product with corn syrup or HFCS should qualify under food stamps or any federal money.

@souldessin @Dan_Ramos @matthew @justinerickson @soapone @SirSpeedBump "The only reason high fructose corn syrup is cheaper than sugar in America is because of corn subsidies."BZZZT! It started with Nixon because of sugar price supports, beet and cane! And there's still massive intervention in that market, I'd assume the economics are still similar. Thus @RonV42 is not to the point, the market is only a factor after this.Remember that HFCS is a little plus or minus the sucrose 50/50 composition of glucose and fructose. Also remember that crop price supports play a role in ensuring people don't starve due to a bad harvest, or here limiting the swings of meat prices and availability."Then we'd finally be free of all of that ethanol in our gas."That I don't see happening, but ending that insane "burn food for fuel" policy (minus distillers grains for animal feed, corn to ethanol leaves behind the protein) would be a very good thing.TD;DR: sugar is the bad thing in excess, the source doesn't matter much if any.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @Dan_Ramos @justinerickson @SirSpeedBump @souldessin @soapone @matthew Ethanol is evil. Ethanol’s hygroscopic behavior accelerates gasoline degradation. What is it like 30 days until the energy drop off from just sitting in the tank makes the fuel almost unusable.
