BTW I’m not oblivious to Russians doing a sort of the same thing, but selectively and on a much smaller scale. Ukrainians from occupied territories? Sure, not civilian Russians. Criminals and convicts - lots of them. Professional military personnel - lots of those too. Reservists - sure. Mercenaries from other poor countries - it’s cheaper from political standpoint. This doesn’t mean the war is going bad for Russia. It’s not. And Russians fleeing from potential conscription is simply survival mechanism and sane behaviour. Nobody wants to get killed in a war they have no stake in.
