       Back then, the failure of #Christians to appreciate their #power at the ballot box over issues they saw as challenging their faith—#abortion topped the list, but also #prayer in #schools, #homosexuality, & #WomensRights—was seen as an opportunity to galvanize a voting bloc for #conservatives. The Moral Majority’s support of candidates who would represent those interests as elected ofcls unleashed a powerful resource in the #Republican Party.

       The Moral Majority disbanded in 1989, but by then offshoots had appeared: Christian Coalition, Focus on the Family, & Family Research Council. #Evangelical & #Christian voters had largely made the #Republican Party theirs.#Trump tapped into & exploited…this long history of disaffected voters. In him, a radical-right strain found its voice. Some call #themselves “#ChristianNationalists” …but the movement, by any name, has a distinctly different character from your grandmother’s Moral Majority.

       @Nonilex This needs to be stickied all over the place...QR codes need to be placed all over leading to this...Also, I seriously just can't understand what is *WRONG* with people that some can actually think Trump would be chosen by any deity on the side of good...  Maybe they need to reconsider who they're actually worshiping if they see Trump as a messiah.Is there even one deadly sin Trump hasn't committed on camera?  I mean, some like murder would be indirect, but still...
