#xmpp How do you generate invites for new users (not open bar public server)I thought a nice UX would be that an admin user could generate a link valid for registration in easy to use xmpp app like #conversations_im but not sure if that is possible.Current solution is I create an account for them with a defaut password they can change.Thoughts?

@tuxicoman Yes. Pre-configured prosody server in docker and very convenient invitation links for new users. Ideal for self-hosted family server

@tuxicoman I'm not sure about coturn exactly, but it supports audio and video calls without any additional setup. https://snikket.org/features/

@mathieui So I have mod_invites on my #prosody install (debian stable). But the command to create invites doesn't work:# prosodyctl mod_invites generate jesuislibre.netThis command is deprecated. Please see 'prosodyctl shell help invite' for available commands.# prosodyctl mod_invites create_account testinvite@jesuislibre.netusage: prosodyctl mod_invites generate example.com

@tuxicoman If you're using mod_invite already, conversations can generate invite links & qr codes. From the main window tap the 3 dots and choose "Invite to conversations".

@sb ah. I was not admin. Now I see it.The other users needs to have installed something to open the xmpp: link? Nothing happens when I click on it on my phone

@tuxicoman What happens for me is that it opens a page recommending downloads of conversations and one or two other clients. These will link to the Google play store. I don't have Play so I can't test what happens. However, underneath the list of clients is a "register manually" link, which the user can click & register. It's not exactly ideal, but it's something.
