       @simplenomad I used to be such a technophile. I envisioned a bunch of little parts that we owned fully and could connect in useful ways to make our lives better. Instead we ended up with these monolithic connected platforms, where we have no rights and no privacy. I'm rapidly becoming a neo Luddite. The annoying part is that it doesn't have to be this way. I shouldn't have to send all my personal data back to "the cloud" just to keep track of how far or fast I've run, I already have a computer.

       @CuriousMatter I have a foot in both worlds, simply so I know about them. The more I explore the "smart" world, the more dedicated I am to doing things like self-hosting, finding repairable tech, and running open source. Making sure anything "smart" in my house can be connected to #homeassistant is quite important.
