       "Windows XP were the good days""Windows 7 was when it was great"The only time Microsoft was great imo was before Windows, back in the MS-DOS and BASIC days. Things were much better back then. They were much simpler too. And it was easier to know your whole OS by heart and how everything works and also tinkering with it. Things only got worse as it got more complex.

       @squid64 Not everyone is old enough to have ever used non graphical operating systems including me.In my view Windows isn't bad because of certain technical decisions specifically, but social policy. If we just let a corporation thats very much a monopoly that only wants to satisfy its investors the experience with it is going to mirror that, and it does.

       @gratislimsa@mastodon.social I'm 30 and back in my time it was Windows95 and XP. I only found about those other ones later. But yeah corporation are bad and community run OS are usually much better.

       @squid64 I am 22 and XP was my first one lolWell yeah exactly, and besides only ever free software operating systems provides with sensible choice how complex or easily understandable it should be for any user.

       @gratislimsa@mastodon.social of course free software is always best but the older stuff was more simple and I guess easier to reverse engineer? And of course some old computers didn't even have networking and Even less internet access.
