In my ongoing effort to make our apartment nicer I bought a green couch cover. It was hard to put on but really makes the room feel fresh. As soon as I was done #Pica the cat entered. Sat down two inches from the cover looking up at the couch and started... mourning?She's so upset. She HATES it. My husbands said "you erased her database"Well.

@futurebird Not sure if this applies, but some new fabric has sizing in it that has an odor that repels some cats and dogs. It could be that washing once or twice would be enough to eliminate the smell.

@hoco Brother I am not taking this thing off again until I replace it. Putting it on was too hard. Poor kitty will need to make do with... IDK I will run the hoover over the thing a few times.

@futurebird You probably should have just put the couch cover in its folded up state atop the couch for a day or two and said, with Pica within earshot, "Oh it might be terrible if Pica were to start sitting atop the new couch cover before I put it on!" She would have then been obligated to sit atop and get her scent on it and she might have been very happy to see it then used to cover the couch.

@futurebird We recently got new living room chairs, arriving 2 days before Christmas. Kona was scared of them at first, but has progressed to deeply distrustful. Maybe someday she'll sit in the living room with us again.
