@evdelen @mayintoronto I don't know. My spouse and previous sexual partners have told me when they're on their period, as well as occasionally some friends. But other women I have known haven't. So, it seems to me like an event that some people share with selected friends and family. Obviously it would have to be opt-in and the recipients would have to be under user control.

@evan @evdelen That's so dangerous given the state of current politics and the persecution of childbearing people. I wouldn't trust ActivityPub with it, especially considering the lack of E2EE.

@mayintoronto @evdelen Clue, Flo, Cycles, Stardust, and others all support some level of private sharing with partners or friends.

@evan @evdelen Dangerous territory in 2025/2026. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-61952794Should this data be collected at all, let alone shared? Why do we normalize the sharing of this information? Specifically, PHI.

@mayintoronto @evdelen sorry, I don't know that term and Google isn't helping. PHI = period health something?

@mayintoronto @evdelen regardless, people share this information with people they care about because it's important to them. I don't think it's up to you or me to tell people they can't. Maybe we could do the work to make it safer, though.

I recall at one time Friendica was going to integrate XMPP with encryption for a DM service, I don't know what every happened to that.
