       Santa gave Mr13 a Bluetooth music page turner pedal thing. Today Mr13 installed Debian on an old Surface Pro laptop so he can use that for sheet music at the piano. It seems to be working well.I do need to track down another power as I want to try the other Surface Pro I have into a dashboard for Home Assistant.

       @puck @lightweightI don't know about other Windows 11 machines, but if comparing to work laptop alone (esp since September), then yes: Win11 machines nowadays don't only work badly, but constantly make a massive noise fest doing it (and even when not in use!) E.g. work laptop's fans constantly spool up these days about once or twice an hour, going into overdrive for about 2 minutes a pop.

       @aligorith @puck I wonder what the cumulative carbon/energy cost of running Windows is, relative to what would be expended running a not-profit-motivated OS? Betting that, like the load LLM scrapers impose on hapless website hosts, it's massive and almost impossible to measure.
