Merry Chenmas! My gift to myself this year was the ever elusive Abraxas from Perennial Brewing (makers of the dangerously sleepy Saison de Lis). If you see this bottle (it comes in various forms) at your local liquor store, grab it. Do not ask questions. Do as you are told.I prefer the non-coffee version as the added bitter notes are just a distraction from the lovely floral touches care of the ancho chilis but this bottle was all they had. If you are confused by the presence of chilis in a stout imperial, I encourage you to go to your local Mexican restaurant and order anything with mole sauce.Yes, there is a hint of spice but even more of cinnamon. This brew is warm and weird on the tongue in all the right ways, with a toasty finish to remind you it's still a stout. Enjoy with your shikigami on a wintry eve in front of the fire or the soft glow of your PC's RGBs.
