       The American prison system has charged me $5.65 to send a prisoner $25 in birthday card money, which they can only spend on goods that are mysteriously three times as expensive as in any store for non-prisoners. (Also, it's legal in the US to pay prison labor below minimum wage. Way below.)

       I'm even more annoyed now because they wrote back and said they're going to spend the money on clothes, because the clothes that they have to buy, in prison from the prison store, are so thin and low-quality that they need to be replaced every few months. again, at artificially high prices while getting otherwise illegally low wages.

       @ar I wouldn't even call that spicy because the constitution literally spells out that anti-slavery regulations do not apply to prisoners
