@samueljohnson@mstdn.social @itsfoss@mastodon.social UI being designed to trick people into giving up control of their computer (in effect sharing data)That's not what I mean with that at all.Giving up control literally means YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL.You can't study how it works and you can't modify it and/or you're not allowed to use the program for your specific purpose.It is running on your computer, but it is controlled by someone else.In a lot of this lack of control is abused by proprietary software to take your personal data, but this is not always the case. That's only a small example and one of the many things they can do when you are not in control of your own computer!

There is a native graphical version of Emacs available for Android in F-Droid.Even though org-mode is nice, this isn't the most practical solution because Emacs on a touchscreen is not very usable. It was never designed with touch interfaces in mind.
