i encounter a lot of worry over online porn and the effect ubiquitous AI-generated porn might have on users, but less discussion of the producer side, of the likelihood AI is the end of the porn industry, porn in all its fetish and variety simply becomes too cheap to meter.

@interfluidity I've wondered whether the payment processor troubles for producers of adult content were caused by AI companies wanting to reduce the supply in order to get people to try AI. I don't have any evidence, but the timing was suspicious.

@interfluidity I’m fascinated by how many on the left treat the defense of sex work, OnlyFans creators, and so on as the most noble of causes (I’d don’t really agree but I gives me pause). It feels like lingering negative polarization against a right-wing that no longer exists (i.e., the Reagan-through-W GOP). Leaves us in a weird moment where seemingly no one, except a few contrarians, are explicitly anti-porn, but “porn” as we know it could be on the verge of precipitous decline anyway.

@interfluidity Ok, there is something kind of hilarious to me about AI killing porn (as a commercial endeavor).I mean, it does make it clear that the whole point of AI is to replace human labor. *sigh* has no one watched The Expanse?

@interfluidity AI would not scruple over age, or species, or consent, or harm to the characters, in generated porn.
