I wonder if Iran will strike mainland United States. I've heard the media speculating about Iran hitting US bases in the middle east, but I don't see why Iran wouldn't hit the US directly, if they could. I don't know what their capabilities are. Or what missile defenses the US may have deployed. If they did, I think a lot of people would be surprised.

The #UMassAmherst Associate Provost for Faculty Development came to my house to bring me lunch and deliver a plaque for my Delphi Leadership Award. We had a nice chat in my tent over Indian food. I was very gratified to receive this award in recognition of my service to non-tenure-track faculty.

I learned today that LinkedIn removed hate speech protections for transgender individuals from their policy on hateful and derogatory content. @interfluidity I've wondered whether the payment processor troubles for producers of adult content were caused by AI companies wanting to reduce the supply in order to get people to try AI. I don't have any evidence, but the timing was suspicious.

@futurebird I kinda wish my wife would do this. Instead, I'm just supposed to leave the right amount. If I eat too much of it, I get chastised. Moreover, she will never eat her part because she likes to hoard things. So I always have to sit and watch her part go bad.

The real difficulty isn't providing universal health care. All of the developed countries have shown that's feasible. But the US has an additional requirement, namely that it must not provide care to the "undeserving." Keeping people divided is fundamental to how the oligarchy maintains control.
