       Picked up this oyster knife/shucker in Osaka walking around my last day at the Kizu fish market area*. Looked great - pointier and sharper than the oxo one I have and it was a little over US$3 - how could I not?!Time to try it out!*https://mastodon.online/@SRDas/115574798091180273

       @SRDas That’s a good price and the wood handle is sweet. I looked at oyster knives at a marine supply store in Astoria OR today but it didn’t have any better than what I have. I have two long blade knives for side-shucking large oysters and a short blade for hinge shucking smaller oysters we eat raw on the half shell. Both have high density plastic handles and stainless steel blades. I had fried oysters at a restaurant here last night. Disappointed, OK but not great.

       @GPJohnston I was sold mostly by that wood handle (well besides the price).My other one is plastic/resin handle.

       That 👆🏽 oyster knife works great! I was able to shuck these oysters quicker and easier than I remember - and besides the 1st one that cracked a bit - managed to keep the liquor in the others. I do need more practice but this was not a pain! And thanks to fishmonger for the lagniappe I found with the 6 oysters I asked forCW #food raw
