Watching one of those stupid crime shows (boyf likes them), an American murdered on Mexico, states "94.3 percent of murders in Mexico go unsolved!" Scary Mexico!Ok... What's the rate in the US? 98 percent of murders in the US are unsolved. https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/08/20/police-solve-just-2-of-all-major-crimes/

@tomjennings maybe that's why they need all those fictional crime dramas where people actually solve crimes. It's like propaganda for policing. As we know they are really only there to protect the rich.

@tomjennings That is a crazy statistic. From a quick look at the Danish ministry of justice, the rate of murders that leads to conviction is 73%, with 7% leading to release, and 8% unsolved (This is for the period of 2017-2021). I'm not sure if that's entirely comparable, as I suppose the 98% rate is over all time, and these numbers are more limited in time.Source here, but in Danish (p.14): https://www.justitsministeriet.dk/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Drab-i-Danmark-2017-2021_WT.pdf

@tomjennings @europlus Best question in statistics in media: “Is that a large number?”
