This thing where the Bigfoot people and the Aliens people have teamed up and decided they are all a part of one "phenomenon" (this is true, just not for the reasons they think...*)Well it's kind of fascinating, because these were, I thought, very different myths with very different kinds of purposes. I guess it's a kind of "big tent" ?* There must always be monsters and folklore. If there isn't any, new ones will arise.

It's also notable that the Angles and Ghosts people want NOTHING to do with the Bigfoot and Aliens crowd. Can't cross those streams. Hilariously each camp will talk about the other with a kind of eye rolling. You saw Bigfoot and you are rolling your eyes about a ghost? REALLY?

@futurebird a lot of the people who are farther down in the aliens world do see their phenomenon as associated with angels and ghosts. Rey hernandez, who wrote a book about the "contact modalities", aretalks about an event where he was with his wife out at night. He saw a typical UFO, and she saw what she described as a "celestial/angelic craft". Same object (altho who knows if it appeared the same to both of them, or if they saw the same thing and interpreted it differently, or what).Anyway, I think things out there are pretty weird.By any chance, have you seen the new documentary "age of disclosure"?

@futurebird Yes!I was amazed years ago having vaguely heard of "Art Bell" but never hearing that kinda stuff in real life when I spent some time staying with a friend who kept "Coast To Coast" Radio on full time.It' was a genre of "anything goes as long as it's absurd and clearly wrong". *That* was (is?) the unifying theme for the station and format.I was just blown away: craziness fandom is a thing, WTF. Like actual fans of stuff that's similar only in being crazy... Wow.

@darkling The east river has been doing better for about three decades now. In the shallows there are even oysters. There are fish and many sea birds. I would not eat the oysters just yet, give that one another 200 years.
