Always pass by Orval when I drive to Belgium. Or the exit to get there, in any case. I feel I owe it to myself to stop there. That used to always be my “treat” beer. Whatever brettanomyces they’re using is really unique and imparts that perfectly dank, musky flavor. I miss it, not gonna lie. Genie needs to stay in the bottle. Today, tomorrow, like always, I’ll keep on driving.

@Unabart I used to really like Orval. Some regret.

@Unabart interesting, never heard of Petit Orval. Guess I'll have to go there at some point.

@fedops Most of those Trappist breweries make a “table beer” for the monks to have with dinner or during fasting cycles. Typically lighter, low abv and usually very delicious. Not commonly for sale. Chimay released theirs years ago. Kulminator had it on tap when i was there a lifetime ago! That was 2009. Even the dudes at Westvleteren have a 4% beer they make for themselves. You gotta hire Indiana Jones to get a taste of that one.
