Was printing something to a neighbour’s Bambu 3D printer. Got an alert “oooh, looks like spaghetti, boss, you might wanna stop that print” (paraphrased). It was indeed spaghetti. Could this be a non-bullshit use of machine vision?ETA: pastagram

@Unixbigot Machine vision is a great example of the non-BS uses of ML. That's one thing that really has revolutionized science over the past decade.ML/DL is fine. It's important and - yes, revolutionary. AlphaFold got a Nobel for a reason. But the only thing that attracts all the money and attention is LLM bots - probably because that's the one thing with the potential to increase the money and power for the already rich and powerful.

@jannemUntil you can run your own LLMs on every damn thing anyway. Mind you, by then we may have real AI and the solid waste stream will really hit the turbine impeller.@Unixbigot
