These are great lyrics. Upbeat, positive, staunch even. A worthy aspirational anthem for cage rattlers and would-be revolutionaries. Maybe I've been underestimating pop music, based on the cringey fluff I remember it being in my teens and early 20s.This song reminds me of soulful Jill Scott tracks like So Blessed. More of this please! (2/2)

(1/2)@CatherineOrganic1 > good bop tooJust watched the video clip, which is creative and fun;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CevxZvSJLk8A far cry from the soft porn with backup dancers that was typical for pop music videos in the heyday of music television (eg MTV when they actually played music videos most of the time).

(2/2)I miss music TV though. If Roar had been a late nineties song I would probably have seen the video then. Because music TV stations in NZ were a fruit salad of genres, playing any song with a professional video. To see videos for Soundgarden, or Beck, or Faith No More, or Rage Against the Machine (the kind of stuff I was into as a teenager and still love), I had to sit through other videos. Hip hop, R&B, other stuff I never would have sought out, but sometimes ended up liking.#MusicTV

@CatherineOrganic1> brass against the machine means I can hear the wordsBrass Against are awesome. I love the funk metal with horns subgenre that had a few moments in the nineties and early noughties, and BA scratch that itch nicely.Supergroove are a great example of the niche I was into;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cscCBzpMJ44... as is this track by Head Like a Hole, although its atypical for them;https://headlikeahole.bandcamp.com/track/a-crying-shame-3

@CatherineOrganic1> would not have the energy for supergroove myself these days ... but can see their appeal ... some tempo! That's one of their faster tunes, but they also have slower, heavy guitar songs like Bugs & Critters;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn2OeKMLY5k... and You Freak Me;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDshQDnl2SU... and even bluesy numbers like Sitting Inside My Head;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSv0z-GHiZI... and For Whatever Reason;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIFgajY6WzY
